Also called Anamamy in Madagascar, this relatively low leafy plant habit (approximately 30 cm in height) produces in abundance leaves which are consumed in salad or cooked with some meat or with some broth when they are young. The dish «Anamamy sy hena omby rony» for example is a very appreciated one in the central highlands of Madagascar. This variety stands up well to heat and can be cultivated all the year round, in dry or wet seasons. Solanum nigrum is widely adapted to every types of soil but requires improvement in organic matter. Sowing in nursery then transplanting 2 in 3 weekss later by planting 20 cm apart. Harvest : in one or two picks, one month after the plantation. Culture easy to make but demands a regular watering.
